Greater Noida. Now 1.25 lakh electricity consumers of Greater Noida will get 10 percent discount on the bill every month. The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered the company to give regulatory discount. Along with this, new rates of power supply have also been fixed. Also, a slab of domestic connections has been scrapped. This order of the commission will be implemented in Greno from August 3. This discount will be available to all categories of consumers.
Last month, the commission held a public hearing on the proposed electricity rates. In this, the officials of Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Consumer Council had said that NPCL is earning Rs 2.05 more per unit. The average power cost in previous years is Rs 6.12 per unit, while the company is charging Rs 8.17 per unit. There was also a demand for a CBI inquiry into the matter. Also, it was said that if this is proved, then one year electricity should be given to the consumers of Greno free of cost. After the hearing, the commission has implemented new rates of electricity. The commission has given discount on bills to the consumers of NPCL in Greno, which is the first time in the company’s 30-year history.
Such consumers will get discount
NPCL officials said that if the domestic connection is of two kilowatts, then the fixed charge will be Rs 220. After this, if the energy charge comes to Rs 500, then the total bill will be Rs 720. The consumer will have to pay government duty on this. After paying government duty, consumers will get 10 percent discount on the remaining amount of the bill.
Rates were lower 11 years ago
For the first time, the commission has given a discount on the electricity bill. 11 years ago, the consumers of Greater Noida got relief, then the commission reduced the electricity rates of NPCL. These rates were in force for one year.
