Earlier this year, during the second wave of the Covid epidemic, a large number of cases of black fungus were reported after corona virus infection was detected in older patients with diabetes. Black fungus is more common in people who have weakened immune systems due to diabetes, kidney disease, liver or heart disease, and age-related diseases or taking medications for diseases such as arthritis. Doctors say that black fungus attacks the healthy tissue of nose, sinuses, eyes and brain so fast that even a slight delay in treatment can lead to serious consequences. This year, 94 patients of the fungus were found in the district, out of which three died. All these patients were post covid.
